Get involved
Volunteering at McNear is never all-or-nothing. Pick what fits your life — an hour at an event, a standing classroom shift, or prep work you do from home.
Family involvement is the backbone of McNear's school culture, and there are more ways to help than most people realize. Some roles — like regular classroom help — require fingerprinting through the school, which the office can walk you through.
If you are not sure where to start, that is completely normal. Reach out, come to an event, and we will help you find a fit. One ask at a time, no pressure.
Ways to help
At-Home Helper
Can't make it to campus during the day? Plenty of PTA work happens at home — prepping craft materials, baking for an event, or assembling supplies. A great fit for busy schedules.
Classroom Helper
Lend a hand in your child's classroom — reading with students, prepping materials, or supporting small groups. Your teacher will let you know what helps most. Some roles require fingerprinting through the school.
Event Day-of Volunteer
Help an event run smoothly — set up a game station, staff a table, or pitch in for an hour at things like Field Day, BINGO Night, or the Book Fair. No experience needed; everything is ready to go.
Garden & Green Team Helper
Support the school garden and outdoor learning spaces — planting, weeding, and helping classes get the most from McNear's environmental programs.
Join a PTA Committee
Want to help shape the year? PTA committees plan events, manage fundraising, and steward the programs we fund. New families are always welcome — no experience required.
Become a PTA member and we will keep you in the loop on the ways to help that fit you best.
